Chanukah and Christmas cards, catching up with my life.

Here are a few cards that I made for my sone and Daughter-in-law.  As you can guess, they celebrate different holidays.  I have been having some difficulty uploading myopic to my blog, but  I think that I have finally figured out!!

I have also been busy with my parents.  My dad is going into a nursing home after he gets out of the rehab that he is in.  It has been a very difficult and time consuming period for me.  My mom sold their house and needs to be out by December 28th.  We bought her a villa in a 55 and over community.  I am grateful that my sister has come down to help pack mom up.  I just couldn't handle that plus working at the same time.

A few more cards.

Here are a few more cards that I made a week ago.  Some of them are not Magnolia cards, but they are gong on deployment with my son.  Shhh, he doesn't know what they look like or even that they will be with him.  They are going to be snuck into his duffle bag by his wife.  LOL

Life has gotten in the way.

I'm so sorry that I haven't written in a while.  A week ago I went to a two day crop and ended up sick on Monday with a fever and cold.  Ended up having to go back to work on Wednesday and put in a lot of hours in two days.  Now my dad is back in the hospital, so it is never ending.

I have sent this card off to my son who is going on deployment December for about 3 months.  That is three month of silence as he is on a submarine!

Here is a card that I have made for the Mingle contest on a Magnolia site that I belong too.  Hope that you like it.

Another card

Here is another crd that I did this past week.  It is a fold card with fall Edwin inside.  The papers are BoBunny and Bazzill yardstick.  I used my nestabilities for the format with an old Dynamo fall saying that I bought ages ago.  I also used some distress ink on the scalloped circle.  The saying inside is from Wordsworth stamps.

Copics used:
E 00,01,11,33,35,37
Y26,21,13,15,
R 20
B 93,95,97

Thanks for looking,

Shelley

Magnolia Stamps

I've just gotten into using these stamps from Sweden. They are wonderful! I've all ready collected about 20 of these stamps in the past few weeks. It is becoming a difficult choice, Magnolia stamps or digital stamps. Either way, i am having fun making cards with my stamps and using my Copic markers. For me, these markers are the way to go for coloring.

I realize that I have promised to keep up with my blog, but I didn't. do you think I can do it this time? Well, we'll see. In the meantime, here are two cards that I have reentry completed with the Magnolia stamps

June 3, 2010

Today is my parents 63rd anniversary! I can't imagine being with someone that long. They are going to go out to dinner, just the two of them, but I have arranged to have flowers a card and pay the bill for them. After all, what do you get two people that have lived together for that length of time? I just wish that I could give them more years together. They have been so devoted to each other for so long, and have gone through many trials and tribulations together.

So, for this anniversary, I got a digital image from Michelle Perkett. Here is the card that I made.

Here is a new digi image that I did today from Fairy Knoll. I have been joining all sorts of groups with digital images lately. It is at least getting me to make some cards so that when a birthday or other occasion comes along, I can go to my stash of cards instead of trying to make one in a rush.

Sorry that I haven't posted in a few days. I've been sick with either the flu or a very bad cold, running a fever of 102! Went to the doctor and got 2 prescriptions, and finally beginning to feel better. I have a good friend from Canada who is a very talented lady. She officially started scrap booking about a year ago, and let me tell you, she is amazing! She made her first digital image a few days ago and agreed to share with me. I consider myself extremely lucky. so since Ijj felt much better today, I decided to play with it. Bev, if you are reading this, I had a great time coloring your image. Thanks, friend. Here is Bev's blog addy. Hope you all enjoy her work as much as I do.

Today is Mother's Day. I have made a card for my mom. Not a very good scan, but here it is.I hope that everyone has a great ay planned for their mom, or from their children. we are going to go out for dinner and thens to a new frozen yogurt place. Everyone is revving about it, so I am going to treat my mom to some. I got some beautiful roses from my son and daughter-in-law ( she is like a daughter). I have heard f rom my other two sons with a phone call and through facebook. Time to get myself going for the day. Still need to pick up flowers for mom.

I have been working on some birthday cards for my sister-in-law and step daughter. I came up with these two. The cupcake is for Martel, SIL, and the hair salon is for Emilie, my step daughter, as she owns her own salon.

I am hoping to be able to get more scraping done this weekend. It is going to be a busy one for me. First, I am treating myself to a facial. I just love the pampering that I get. then Ed and I have to do more cleaning out of the garage. One of these days we will be able to get a car into it.

Wednesday night is family dinner night, and it was no exception tonight. This time it was only my parents and my son, Aaron. Nice quiet dinner at Padrino's, our favorite Cuban restaurant. Love those plantains!

All is fairly quiet here at home, just working and trying to have some fun.

I started working on a scrap book for my neighbors. They just had a baby girl 2 weeks ago. I will post some pics this weekend. Looking forward to this weekend. Will try and get most of the album done, then I can concentrate on dong some things for myself. Work is a little slow this week, as it is spring break. Many of the docs have taken the time off to be with their kids. Next week we get SLAMED! I get my first paycheck from this place tomorrow, It should be a really nice one. Maybe I'll treat myself to some scrappy stuff. Hmmm, don't tell Ed! I'd like some new Glimmer mist, maybe some pink to do a girly album? Need to try and sign up for some classes at the store inLake Worth. That will be my only store now that The Scrapbook Place has closed. I can't believe how much I miss it all ready. Just the other day when I was working on a layout, I needed something, and just couldn't go out to the store to get it. Now I have to travel 25 minutes on a good day. How sad.

Summer is fast approaching. We have had a cool winter for south Florida, and I for one will miss the cool nights. Will catch up this weekend.

Again, its been a long time

Well, we are into the new year. In fact, it is almost 1/4 over and here I am trying to play catch up.
I have finally found a full time job and loving it. It is another surgery center, just downstairs from where I have been working per diem for the past 2+ years.

Her are some updates:

Mom and Dad are selling their house in anticipation of going into independent living.
Hopefully even with the market the way it is, it won't take forever to sell. Dad isn't doing as well as we would like, but what can I say. Mom is holding up well, considering she never thought that she would end up being the care giver.

Jason, my eldest made Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and has been reassigned a new boat. Still no babies in the future.

Aaron is almost finished with his second year of medical school at FAU/ University of Miami.

Scott is finishing up his third year at medical school at USYIS, the military medical school in Bethesda, Md.

My niece, Heather, is finishing up her undergraduate work at University of Miami and her brother, Brian, will be having his Bar Mitzvah this May.

Ed, my DH, is still working in the paint business, and trap shooting every Sunday morning.

Thanks to Facebook, I have found some friends that I have lost contact with over the years. What a trip it is going down memory lane with them.

I will hopefully be able to post on a slide, my layouts that I have done in the past.

It is a sad day for scrap bookers here in Boca Raton. Our favorite store is closing its doors as of today. I wish the owner, Pamela, the very best. This is where I learned to scrap book many years ago, and have always gone there for all my papers and embellishments. My BFF, Ginni and I have been going there for years for crops. We now have to find a new home to crop at. It will be difficult as this was fairly central to both of us.

Right now I am working on a few projects. One is a baby album for my neighbor and the other is to finish up this past thanksgiving. I am hoping to manage my time better with working full time and getting things done around the house and finding time to scrap. It is a challenge. Time management and energy are my main problems. I will just have to give it time (and also keeping off the computer more).

I am also still in the process of learning how to use my Mac. I love it. The quality of my photos is amazing. I am learning new things with every class including computer generated hybrid cards. This is exciting for the conventional scrapper. Never thought that I would get into the digi world.

I will try to update at least once a week for everyone. Hope that you are all having a good year.
